A lot of changes are coming to the San Francisco 49ers in 2022. But for the more casual 49ers fans, the most noticeable change might be to their uniforms.

On Monday, the 49ers revealed that they are making some updates to their jerseys for the 2022 season. There will be two distinct changes to the new shirt.

The first and perhaps most noticeable will be the addition of three stripes to the shirt sleeves of the base jersey. San Francisco have gone with two stripes for the past few years but used to have three on alternates.

The second big change might be a little harder to see from a distance. It's a saloon-style watermark on the front of the shirt with the "49ers" nickname underneath the NFL logo and above the jersey number.

49ers fans - and some general NFL fans - really like the updated uniform. Many are praising it for having a class feel:

The San Francisco 49ers have undergone a number of uniform redesigns in their 76-year history. In the 1950s they started implementing gold into what had previously been exclusively red, white and silver.

The team has experimented with different shades of red, different stripes and different levels of shading on their own logo.

The end result has been an outfit that is distinct from every other sports team out there and recognizable around the world.
