It's officially NFL Draft day. As the football world awaits tonight's first round, the Deebo Samuel trade talk is heating up. FS1's Colin Cowherd has a blockbuster trade proposal in mind for the San Francisco 49ers.
Cowherd thinks the 49ers and Jets should consider a trade centered on Samuel. In the deal, the Jets would give the 49ers the No. 10 and 38 overall picks in this year's draft and a third-rounder in 2023 in exchange for the superstar wide receiver.
Here's a look at the details of the proposed trade:
- Jets receive: Deebo Samuel
- 49ers receive: No. 10 and 38 overall picks in 2022 NFL Draft, a third-rounder in 2023
Here's Cowherd's reasoning for his blockbuster deal:
"Deebo Samuel to the Jets is not a terrible idea. So let's look at the big picture. He's a really good player and he's a star player for a franchise that doesn't have one," he said, referring to the Jets. "Buffalo is absolutely loaded. New England's got a great coach, the best ever, and Mac Jones in year two. He'll be stabilized. And Miami? Massive upgrade offensively. And you finished fourth last year.
"... I think it makes sense. Take a big swing."
The good news for the 49ers is they could draft a replacement for Deebo Samuel with that No. 10 overall pick they'd potentially get in exchange from the Jets. Sure, it'll be difficult to replace Deebo, but there's plenty of options in this year's class.
Should the Jets and 49ers consider Cowherd's trade proposal?
