San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will grace the cover of TIME magazine this week.
Colin Kaepernick, the backup quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers who started a movement of protesting racial injustice by kneeling during the playing on the national anthem, will be on the cover of TIME magazine this week. The article on Kaepernick, which it titled 'The Perilous Fight', is written by Sean Gregory. The article title obviously pays homage to a line from the Star-Spangled Banner.
TIME announced the news on Twitter with a short video. The photo features Kaepernick kneeling.
Kaepernick started the movement during the NFL preseason, and he's gotten support from a number of other athletes in the time since. Brandon Marshall of the Denver Broncos joined in. Four Miami Dolphins got involved. United States soccer star Megan Rapinoe has begun to protest too. It's likely just the beginning.
Whether or not you agree with Kaepernick, it's clear that his message is being heard.
