New San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch Says DeShone Kizer "Blew The Doors Off" Of His Interview

DeShone Kizer's stock could be on the rise for the team in the No. 2 slot of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The San Francisco 49ers will be without any signed quarterbacks with the departure of Colin Kaepernick, but are they poised to go quarterback at the top of the draft? The available signal callers aren't generally looked at as elite prospects, but based on comments by general manager John Lynch on Thursday, Kizer out of Notre Dame could be on the rise.

He spoke glowingly about the interview his team held with Kizer to reporters. From USA Today:

“I’m excited about it,” Lynch told reporters Thursday. “I’m sure there will be a lot of different opinions as there always will be. Last night we had an interview with DeShone Kizer. This whole thing is not about an interview, but if we’re grading him on that alone, he blew the doors off of it. He’s an impressive young man. His film is impressive, too.”

Lynch went on the compliment other quarterbacks, including UNC's Mitch Trubisky, Clemson's Deshaun Watson, and Texas Tech's Pat Mahomes, but the Kizer comments are the ones that really stand out. Combined with Cleveland's apparently fondness of Trubisky, an Ohio native, and it looks like we may have another early run on quarterbacks after all.
