We’re just a few hours away from another edition of Monday Night Football. This week, the undefeated San Francisco 49ers host the Cleveland Browns in a highly anticipated NFC-AFC matchup.
Both teams have high aspirations this season. The Browns are littered with star-power, but they’ve had trouble putting it together at times. Still, Cleveland enters tonight’s game with a 2-2 record and can maintain the AFC North lead with a win.
San Francisco has surprised almost everyone going 3-0 to start the season. But Monday Night Football against the Browns will be the 49ers’ toughest test yet.
Ahead of the game, ESPN has released its final prediction. Its Matchup Predictor is loving the 49ers in this one.
ESPN gives San Francisco a 72.9% chance to beat the Browns tonight. Cleveland has just a 26.8% chance to win.
Certainly a lopsided projection. Vegas is predicting a much closer outcome — the 49ers are just 4.5-point favorites.
Both teams will trot out young quarterbacks in regards to experience. Jimmy Garoppolo has played six seasons in the NFL, but the first half of his career was spent in New England backing up Tom Brady.
In just two seasons, Baker Mayfield has already started more games in his career than Garoppolo (17 starts for Mayfield compared to 13 for Jimmy G). Both quarterbacks are still trying to prove they’re among the elite in the NFL.
Monday Night Football kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET.
The game will be televised on ESPN.
