Last week, the Arizona Cardinals hosted the San Francisco 49ers in a divisional battle. Arizona opened the game with a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead, but saw that lead evaporate by halftime.
After a furious comeback in the second half, the Cardinals fell 28-25. Despite the play on the field, all anyone was talking about after the game was a post-game interview between Garoppolo and Erin Andrews.
Andrews asked the star quarterback how he felt about the 49ers moving to 8-0 with the win. He responded, “Feels great, baby.”
The clip quickly went viral on social media and Andrews herself responded to the incident. The veteran NFL reporter had some fun with it, retweeting a not-so-subtle message from 49ers offensive tackle Joe Staley.

On Thursday afternoon, Garoppolo spoke with reporters and clarified he didn’t intend for the comment to spark a controversy.
According to David Lombardi, Garoppolo said he says “baby” about “500 times a game.”
Jimmy Garoppolo points out that he says “baby” about “500 times a game” to his teammates and Erin Andrews wasn’t getting special treatment. Garoppolo then repeats: “I was excited. 8-0, baby.”
