If the San Francisco 49ers want to get a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft for star wide receiver Deebo Samuel, they don't have much time to make a trade. But one report indicates that the notion may not bother the 49ers at all.

Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, NFL insider Peter Schrager reported that he doesn't believe the 49ers are looking to trade Samuel at all. He also noted that the New York Jets are interested in trading for him.

"The Jets are interested in him. But I don't know if the 49ers will trade him. That's the thing. They know his value to them and they believe they can mend all fences," Schrager said. "I don't think San Francisco is looking to trade Deebo Samuel."

That would certainly fall in line with what the 49ers have said publicly. San Francisco's top brass have all stood firm with the stance that they have no interest in listening to trade offers, let alone making a trade.

When the report first emerged that Deebo Samuel made a trade request, the New York Jets immediately became the top suitor for him. The team's ties to Samuel combined with their draft capital and need at the position made them obvious candidates.

But while the 49ers could probably use some of the assets the Jets have at their disposal, they know how good Samuel is. Samuel just showed the world that he's one of the most dynamic playmakers in football this season.

If a trade doesn't happen in the next few hours, it's hard to envision it happens at all in 2022.
