The Seattle Seahawks defense is dominating tonight’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, and not even a bogus roughing the passer call can keep them down.
In the third quarter in Santa Clara, Jadeveon Clowney nearly wrestled San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the ground, and Quinton Jefferson came in to clean up for the sack. However, Jefferson was flagged for lowering his helmet while making the hit.
As a result, a sack turned into a 15-yard penalty. Based on the replay, Jefferson got jobbed.
What exactly is he supposed to do when the quarterback ducks? How could you not lower your helmet somewhat?
Lowering his head? He’s going for the exact spot the NFL tells him to and Jimmy G drops his helmet. pic.twitter.com/sR9cg1Yrov

Fortunately for Jefferson and the Seahawks, the penalty didn’t matter in the long run. Shortly thereafter, Clowney burst through and sacked Garoppolo, stripping him of the ball in the process.
Poona Ford recovered, and Seattle scored four plays later to take a 21-10 lead.
Clowney is having a monster game. He has four QB hits, three tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown. The guy has been all over the place.
Right now, the Seahawks are on the verge of handing San Francisco its first lost of the season.
