NFL Analyst Names 1 Team Most Likely To End Playoff Drought
There are a few teams in the NFL who have been stuck on the outside looking in when it comes to the postseason for a few years now. The Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers haven't made the playoffs in five seasons, while the wait has been one year longer for the Detroit Lions.
The Denver Broncos haven't been back to the playoffs since winning Super Bowl 50 eight years ago, and the New York Jets have the longest playoff drought in major American pro sports at 12 years.
One NFL analyst took a look at each team's schedule and came up with the team he believes has the best chance of ending their drought.
According to Adam Schein, that team is the New York Jets.
After sitting down with new quarterback Aaron Rodgers and understanding his approach and mindset about joining the Jets, Schein noticed that Rodgers compared this Jets team to a team that was able to capture a title in New York.
"Rodgers told me he had just watched ESPN's 30 for 30 documentary on the 1986 Mets, marveling over how special it would be to win a championship in New York, particularly with one of the city's underdog teams," he said via NFL.com.
The Jets looked like they were on their way to ending the drought last season before collapsing down the stretch.
With Rodgers behind center instead of Zach Wilson or Mike White, the chances of that happening again are extremely low.
The Jets will have a difficult schedule, and the AFC is filled with good teams, but it's hard not to like them this year after they've added a four-time MVP at their greatest position of need.
