NFL Fans React To Jon Gruden's New Job On Thursday

Jon Gruden has a new job - a media one, that is.

The former NFL head coach, who was ousted from his head coaching job with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, has landed back in the sports media world. Gruden, who previously served as an analyst for ESPN, is joining Barstool Sports. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news of the signing on Thursday morning. Gruden, 61, has reportedly signed a multi-year deal.

"Former Buccaneers and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has signed a multi-year deal with Barstool Sports," he reported.

Barstool Sports officially announced the signing with a video sketch.

"Welcome to Barstool Sports, Jon Gruden," Barstool announced.

NFL fans are reacting to news of the hiring on social media on Thursday. Gruden will likely be involved in videos, podcasts and more for Barstool Sports.

"Bro heard the Jets rumors and chose Barstool instantly," one fan wrote.

"I don’t think I had this one on my bingo card today," one fan added.

"Wait. What is going on? We got Chucky?" one fan added.

"Now there is actual entertainment value to watch barstool," one fan added.

Gruden's decision to sign with Barstool Sports comes in the wake of former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason reporting that he wanted back into coaching.

"I'm telling you right now, (I made a) couple calls last night — I can confirm that he definitely wants to get back in. One hundred percent," Esiason said on his WFAN radio show, "Boomer and Gio."

Multiple teams were believed to be interested.

"I can also confirm, and I believe this to be true — this is, again, my opinion after speaking to at least two different people that are involved in coaching searches and things of that nature — that there are teams that are interested in him."

He added: "If it's not this year, it's definitely next year. But he's coming back. He's definitely coming back."

Gruden will be working at Barstool Sports for now, though.
