NFL Fans React To Shannon Sharpe, Brett Favre Lawsuit Result
Amid an ongoing court battle due to his alleged involvement in the Mississippi welfare scandal, Brett Favre sued Shannon Sharpe for defamation.
Favre's lawsuit centered around Sharpe saying on television that the Hall of Fame quarterback “stole money from people that really needed that money." On Monday, a federal judge dismissed the suit, claiming that the comments were obviously "rhetorical hyperbole."
Sharpe acknowledged the decision on X/Twitter last night.
"The United States District Court 4 the Southern District of Mississippi 2day dismissed Brett Favre’s defamation lawsuit against me. The court found the statements were protected by the 1st Amendment 2 the Constitution. Thanks 2 my legal team and their handling of this case," he tweeted.
Sharpe's followers reacted to the news in the comments and quote-tweets.
"He stole from the poor then tried to sue Shannon? Oh damn Brett," one said.
"That’s right baby! Crapping on a corrupt prick is your Constitutional right!" another added.
"Looking at the comments made by both Shannon and Pat McAfee, they’re very similar in the wordage and extent of their critique. Why did Brett drop his suit with Pat but still went after Shannon?" another person wondered.
"Brett Favre trying to cash grab everyone damn," a fourth person added.
Favre is able to appeal yesterday's ruling.
