NFL Fans Reacts To Potential Tom Brady, Bill Belichick Reunion

Bill Belichick shocked many in the football world when he accepted the head coach position at the University of North Carolina in December.

Belichick, who parted aways with the New England Patriots after 24 seasons following the end of the 2023 campaign, reportedly had grown tired of the NFL world, which led to his willingness to give the college game a try. However, there were many skeptical that Belichick was done for good with the NFL, and today's report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero has only fueled their fire.

Pelissero reported Wednesday that "multiple" NFL teams have reached out to Belichick even after he began working at UNC. One of them was the Las Vegas Raiders, where Tom Brady, Belichick's former quarterback, is a minority owner.

Pelissero says Brady and Belichick recently spoke, prompting immediate reaction from the sports world.

"It would actually be hilarious if/when Belichick leaves for the NFL before coaching so much as a UNC practice," said ESPN 92.9's John Martin.

"Reminder: Belichick would owe UNC $10 million if he leaves before June 1. He would only owe UNC $1 million if he leaves after June 1. There's always been a possibility he never coaches in Chapel Hill. That buyout might be worth it for someone," theorized NBC Sports' Nicole Auerbach.

"That pre and post-June 1st buyout starting to make sense now," said Fox Sports' Jared Smith.

"I hope he stays where he's at," a third person said.

"This doesn’t get leaked for no reason," added fantasy football writer/podcaster Brian Drake.

"Well, it's not like Bill Belichick would quit a job before it officially started for a better job," joked Geoffery Clark of OutKick.

For now, Belichick is busy fulfilling his early duties at UNC, which include visiting high school recruits and scouring the transfer portal for potential additions.

It's possible the 73-year-old coach decides he wants to see things through in Chapel Hill, at least to start, and resists any NFL advances.

But we've seen Belichick change his mind before, so for now, this story isn't going to die.
