NFL Stadium Used '200 Gallons Of Paint' To Prepare Field For Rams-Vikings Playoff Game
The tragic California wildfires have caused a swath of destruction that is even impacting areas not directly in the path of the flames. That's forced the NFL to move Monday's playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
But as the home of the Arizona Cardinals, State Farm Stadium isn't exactly designed to serve as a designated Rams home game. As a result, the Rams, Cardinals and the league have basically had to scramble over the last couple of days to redesign the field to give it more of a home-like feel for the Rams.
To that end, the Rams apparently imported several hundred gallons of paint in order to rework the interior of the stadium and change it from the Cardinals' red and black to the Rams' blue and yellow.
According to Cardinals media member Mark Dalton, a truck arrived at State Farm Stadium hauling in 200 gallons of paint in the Rams' colors. The truck apparently drove 1,500 miles to get to the stadium in time.
"This truck arrived at State Farm Stadium this morning after a 1,500-mile trek from Leland, MS It brought 200 gallons worth of paint - mostly Blue (Pantone2736) & Yellow (Pantone 109) - to paint the field in Rams colors," Dalton wrote, sharing a photo of the arriving truck.
Fans in the comments are praising the Cardinals for organizing such a classy gesture to make their division rival's game feel more like home.
"Classy @AZCardinals to do all they can to make Monday's game feel like a Rams home game. They did the same for Chargers at Sun Devil Stadium in 2003 when their game against the Dolphins had to be moved, also because of SoCal fires. I was at that game and will be at Monday's, too," one user replied.
"Well done by the @AZCardinals . Know there is a lot of work done by staff to put this game on," wrote another.
"Thank you to this Cardinals employee for helping us out," a third replied.
The game will be played on Monday at 8 p.m. ET and will air on ABC.
