In the wake of Andrew Luck’s retirement last night, few people tweeted something as dumb as Doug Gottlieb.
The FOX Sports host claimed that Luck retiring because “rehabbing is too hard” is the “most millennial thing ever.”
Of course, Luck’s retirement had more to do with the physical toll he’s taken in the NFL and the injuries he’s suffered, not because rehab itself is too arduous.
Many criticized Gottlieb for his take, but few dropped the hammer as hard as Carolina Panthers wide receiver Torrey Smith. Smith’s tweet to Gottlieb has gone viral.
“You stole credit cards because working was ‘too hard,'” he wrote.

Of course, Smith is referring to the infamous credit card incident that led to Gottlieb being dismissed from Notre Dame after one season during his playing days.
A point guard for the Fighting Irish, Gottlieb stole his roommate’s credit card and used it to make purchases without his knowledge. It led to him getting kicked out and having to finish his career at Oklahoma State.
In fairness to Gottlieb, he’s never hid from his past and has admitted many times he was completely wrong. However, that isn’t going to stop people from bringing it up, particularly when you make statements like the one he did on Saturday night.
