A few weeks before his first regular season game with his new team, more comments from Odell Beckham Jr. on the trade that sent him to Cleveland have been published.

Beckham and the Browns are the focus of the latest Sports Illustrated cover story by Ben Baskin. In the piece, there are some new details on the behind-the-scenes lead up to the blockbuster deal.

There are also some interesting quotes from Beckham, who called the trade "personal." The mega-talented wide receiver claims his old team bypassed better offers to send him to Cleveland "to die."

In fact, he claims to know that the Giants received better offers and still chose to send him to Cleveland, out of spite, hoping to stain his career with the enduring stigma that comes with playing for the Browns.

“This wasn’t no business move,” he says. “This was personal. They thought they’d send me here to die.”

Beckham has spoken out about the Giants' decision to trade him in the past, but let's take a look at these particular statements. First, it is impossible to judge what other offers the Giants had without definitively knowing what they were.

Secondly, while there is no doubt that the Browns have been a laughingstock since returning to Cleveland two decades ago, the Giants actually did Beckham a favor sending him to play with his best friend (Jarvis Landry) and a budding star at quarterback (Baker Mayfield).

The Browns' roster, on paper, is much better than the Giants' as well. So, all in all, there are worse situations to be in in the NFL.

Lastly, between what Beckham and Mayfield have said about the Giants, can we hurry up and get to the next meeting between these two teams at MetLife Stadium in 2020?
