Panthers vs. Buccaneers preview:
The Panthers got demolished by the Falcons last Saturday at home, 33-16, and Cam Newton looked terrible. He went an abominable 18-of-43 with a touchdown and two interceptions. At halftime it was 20-3. It was literal violence on television (on Christmas Eve!), yet impossible to look away. A team that just a year ago boasted an offense that could score at will and a stout defense, is now a heaping pile of rubble struggling to retain the the very image of a functioning football team. It's been one year long car crash for the Panthers.
The Bucs were essentially eliminated from the playoffs with a loss to the Saints on Saturday, but it was a valiant effort nonetheless. At 8-7 the Bucs took a real step forward as a football team, and Jameis Winston looks to be the real deal as a franchise quarterback. He's inconsistent at times, but he shows promise. They'll be contending for the NFC South next year.
Panthers vs. Buccaneers prediction:
The Buccaneers get the win at home and finish the season at 9-7. Not bad for a team that started off the year 1-4. As for the Panthers, they've got some serious retooling to do if they want to be relevant again. That defense is a revolving door.
