Panthers vs. Saints preview:
The Panthers have lost three straight games and now sit at 1-4 on the season after last year’s Super Bowl appearance. Cam Newton sat out of their loss to Tampa Bay last weekend with a concussion, but could play in the game against the Saints. Carolina needs a win here to turn its season around.
New Orleans finally got its first win of the season in a Week 4 matchup against the San Diego Chargers. The Saints celebrated their win with a Week 5 bye to give them some extra time to prepare for Cam Newton and the Panthers. New Orleans lost its first two games of the season by a combined four points, and its only win was a one-point victory. It’s been a season of close calls for the Saints, who are looking for their second win on the season.
The Panthers and Saints have played 42 times in history, with the Panthers owning a 23-19 advantage.
Panthers vs. Saints prediction:
Carolina’s defense is a shadow of its former self. Last year the Panthers dominated opponents throughout the season and into the playoffs. This year the Panther’s “D” is allowing over 350 yards per game. There is some good news for the Panthers though. The Saint’s defense is allowing over 430 yards per game.
This should be an offensive shootout, with Cam Newton and Drew Brees slinging the rock all over the field.
Panthers 38, Saints 35
