Patrick Mahomes is a two-time MVP and a two-time Super Bowl champion, but he's already got one eye on his life after football.

Mahomes says he'd like to stay around football after he retires, but that he'd prefer to do so with the title of owner.

The Chiefs star, who recently invested in Alpine's Formula One team, says that his forays into sports ownership are over “until I own an NFL team.”

“If I can get there, then I might settle down,” Mahomes said about NFL ownership.

“But they make it pretty tough to get to that spot.”

Mahomes pointed to Tom Brady as an example, noting that Brady's attempts to join the minority ownership group of the Las Vegas Raiders have given him a blueprint for what to do when he retires.

"That’s definitely where you want to get to because I love this sport and want to give back in any way possible when I’m done playing," Mahomes noted.

“Obviously, I’ll be a Chiefs fan. But at the same time, I want to have that competitive edge like I’ve always had my entire life.”

Mahomes hopefully has a long and successful NFL career ahead of him, but his goal of one day owning an NFL team is something that he will likely have a chance to do after he retires.
