Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are just a couple of days away from playing for a spot in the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs, the No. 1 seed in the AFC, are set to host the New England Patriots in the conference championship game at Arrowhead Stadium.

It should be an awesome contest, with frigid temperatures expected in Kansas City, though no snow is projected.

It's been quite the year for Mahomes, who took over as the team's starting quarterback in his second NFL season.

Mahomes, the favorite for the NFL's MVP award, received a cool present from his girlfriend before Sunday's game.

The Mahomes family has a new addition.

"Just my dad telling me HE WON MVP & that IM GONNA BE A BIG BROTHER," Mahomes' dog's Instagram account posted.

Mahomes' dogs likely won't be in the stands on Sunday night, but he'll still have plenty of support from his friends and family.

The Chiefs and the Patriots are set to kick off at 6:40 p.m. E.T. on Sunday night. The game will be televised on CBS.

The winner of the Chiefs-Patriots game will head to the Super Bowl, where either the Saints or Rams will await. New Orleans and Los Angeles are set to kick off at 3 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
