Report: Patriots Trading QB Jacoby Brissett To Colts For WR Phillip Dorsett

We're seeing an uptick in trades in the NFL during the lead-up to the 2017 season, and two AFC rivals just made a very intriguing swap.

The Patriots and Colts are both dealing with significant injuries to start the year. The Pats lost top wide receiver Julian Edelman for the season to a torn ACL, while Colts QB Andrew Luck could miss a chunk of time after having offseason shoulder surgery.

There is no love lost between the two teams, but they are reportedly making a swap that could be pretty mutually beneficial.

The Pats are reportedly sending third-string quarterback Jacoby Brissett to Indianapolis. In return, they will get former first round pick Phillip Dorsett, who could help fill the hole left by Edelman.

Brissett saw some time last year during Tom Brady's suspension. The former NC State star filled in for injured Jimmy Garoppolo, completing 34-of-55 passes for 400 yards in three games (two starts). He also ran for 83 yards and a touchdown. New England was 1-1 in his starts.

Dorsett was the No. 29 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Last season, he was third on the roster in receiving yards with 528, and found the end zone twice. At 16 yards per catch, Dorsett was one of the Colts' best big-play threats last year.
