On Saturday afternoon, football once again graced the television sets of America. The Alliance of American Football entered Week 8 of its inaugural season on Saturday when the Memphis Express hosted the Orlando Apollos.
It's the home debut of newly-signed quarterback Johnny Manziel - though it's unclear if he'll actually see the field.
Manziel made his AAF debut last weekend, completing three-of-five passes for 48 yards. He also added 20 yards on the ground in brief relief of starting quarterback Brandon Silvers.
The AAF has been going through a rough time as of late. Majority owner Tom Dundon suggested the league could close its doors as soon as this week.
It's no surprise, then, that fan interaction with the new league is low.
On Saturday afternoon a sparse crowd showed up to watch the Express and Apollos.
When not even Johnny Manziel can brings butts to seats, the new league could be in trouble.
Orlando entered the game as the best team in the league with a 6-1 record. Memphis, meanwhile, has struggled to field a competent quarterback en route to a 2-5 mark.
The Express and Apollos are battling it out on TNT. Stay tuned for further updates from the game - including whether or not Manziel sees any action.
