It's been two days since the Carolina Panthers released longtime starter Cam Newton. But there doesn't appear to be much hard evidence indicating a potential landing spot. So one player is taking it upon himself to recruit the former NFL MVP.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Jacksonville Jaguars star running back Leonard Fournette decided to make his pitch to Newton. He posted a picture of him and Newton hanging out, with the message, "@cameron1newton what we doing teaming up or what"?

The Jacksonville Jaguars recently traded Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears, clearing up a sizeable chunk of cap space in the process. While the team appears committed to developing Gardner Minshew, it probably wouldn't hurt to bring in some competition - or an experienced starter Minshew can learn behind.

Jacksonville went 6-10 in 2019. It was the eighth time in nine years that they suffered double-digit losses.

Fournette is a player that would certainly be able to carry a heavy workload to take the burden off Newton. He rushed 265 times for 1,152 yards and added another 76 catches for 522 yards through the air in 2019.

Considering how weak the AFC South tends to be, Newton could easily be the best QB in the division in 2020 if he makes a full recovery from his most recent injuries.

Would the Jacksonville Jaguars be a good fit for Cam Newton?
