It’s been a long offseason for Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, who’s recovering from his team’s disappointing Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots.
McVay, one of the brightest young head coaches in recent NFL history, revealed that he probably worked a little too hard ahead of his team’s Super Bowl matchup.
“You see stuff that worked in, say, Week Three, but you forget about the amount of stuff that’s taken place since Week Three,” McVay told Sports Illustrated. “You can watch so much film that you lose perspective.”
McVay admitted that he went overboard with the film watching.
“I operated knowing I had another week,” McVay added. “That urgency to completely finalize the game plan wasn’t quite there, and that led to me watching so much film that you can almost water down your thought process. . . .
“You have so much time that you can over-prepare and get away from some of the things that helped you get there.”
McVay and the Rams will get another chance at a Super Bowl run in 2019.
For now, though, he and his significant other are enjoying the offseason. McVay and his girlfriend took a trip to the Kentucky Derby earlier in the month.
His girlfriend is now enjoying a tropical trip of her own.
The 2019 regular season will be here before we know it, so it’s good to get some offseason relaxation in.
Los Angeles is currently given the second-best odds of winning next year’s Super Bowl at 8/1, tied with the Kansas City Chiefs.
