Raiders Announce Decision On Chandler Jones After Arrest
Chandler Jones has yet to play in a game this season, as the star pass rusher has been dealing with off-field issues.
Those issues only got worse this week, beginning with strange social media activity including a livestream where he implicated Raiders head coach in the death of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.
Jones, while crying, insinuated that Hernandez did not commit suicide in jail and that former wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald had been cloned.
The social media behavior turned into a legal issue on Friday when Jones was arrested on two charges of violating a domestic violence protective order.
On Saturday, the Raiders made a decision regarding Jones following his erratic and bizarre behavior this week.
ESPN's Adam Schefter says that the Raiders are releasing Jones.
Jones was placed on the non-football injury list on September 20, and statements from the team seemed to be in support of him as he looked to improve his mental health.
With the matter now involving an arrest, the Raiders have decided to cut ties with Jones.
Jones signed a three-year, $51 million contact with the Raiders in 2022, and now he will need to find a new team if he hopes to continue his career.
For now, his legal issues and mental health will be the priority as he looks to get back on track.
