Chip Kelly might stay in the NFL coaching ranks after all.

The San Francisco 49ers fired Chip Kelly after just one season as the team's head coach. Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is the favorite to fill the 49ers head coaching vacancy.

According to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, Chip Kelly is a candidate to replace Shanahan, should he move on to the 49ers.

Glazer reported on FOX NFL Sunday today that Kelly is one of the Falcons' three candidates to replace Shanahan, if he leaves.

After San Francisco fired Kelly, Jay Glazer reported the former Oregon coach would consider a coordinator position and he interviewed with the Jaguars earlier this month.

The longtime Oregon Ducks head coach would take over the most prolific offense in the NFL this season. The Falcons finished the 2016 season with the No. 1 scoring offense and the No. 2 offense in yards per game.
