J.J. McCarthy continues to gain steam among the top quarterbacks expected to go early in this year's NFL Draft.

The national champion auditioned for NFL teams at Michigan's pro day on Friday. He reportedly talked with several potential suitors in Ann Arbor.

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, McCarthy had "lengthy meetings" with the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks.

However, those aren't the only three teams to meet with McCarthy during the pre-draft cycle.

Earlier this month, McCarthy also visited the New York Giants and had dinner with team executives. He additionally held a private workout with the Minnesota Vikings.

Those interested teams presumably won't include the Los Angeles Chargers, who have their franchise quarterback in Justin Herbert. Yet head coach Jim Harbaugh gushed over his former Michigan Wolverines star.

Harbaugh called McCarthy's pro day the "best I've ever seen." He said "numerous" other coaches and general managers lauded the quarterback.

"Like I predicted, once they were around him, I was hearing the stories about how he is on the board, how he is on the field," Harbaugh said, per Tracy Sandler of Fangirl Sports Network. "The little things, the intangibles. I mean, it was absolutely no surprise whatsoever. But yeah, there was raving, and it was great to hear and incredible to hear."

The Commanders and Patriots pick No. 2 and 3 next month, respectively, so they weren't considered realistic landing spots for McCarthy earlier this spring. Either those teams are doing their due diligence, or he could be in play for a seismic leap up next month's draft board.

On the other hand, the Seahawks pick No. 16 after signing Geno Smith to a three-year contract extension. They may be a longshot to snag McCarthy as an heir apparent if his perceived stock continues to soar.
