With the NFL Draft just a few hours away, one prospect received unfortunate news regarding his stock.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, former Cal offensive tackle Jake Curhan has been taken off several teams' boards because his medical tests revealed a heart issue.
"Cal OT Jake Curhan, who likely would have been a 6th or 7th rounder, is off several boards after medical tests revealed a heart issue," Rapoport said. "An inconsistent EKG led to more tests, though Curhan has played with it and has no symptoms. Still should be a priority free agent."
If Curhan doesn't get drafted due to this medical issue, he'll be a priority free agent.
Earlier this year, Curhan caught up with The Spun to discuss his preparation for the NFL Draft. During our discussion, he revealed what type of role he envisions himself playing at the pro level.
"I’ll probably play both offensive guard spots and right tackle in practice," Curhan said. "I’m focusing most of my attention on guard right now since I already started 40 games at tackle. It’s a bit more different in there than I anticipated it would be. Just the angles of what you’re doing and how much time you have before you’re in contact with the defensive line are different. For me, I’m working on those things so I can be confident in my ability by the time camp starts."
Cal fans will find out where Curhan's professional career will begin at some point this weekend.
