The New York Jets aren't making a quarterback change this week.

Robert Saleh said after Sunday's 15-10 loss to the New England Patriots that Zach Wilson will remain his starter. When asked again Monday, the head coach confirmed that he's sticking with the 24-year-old for Sunday night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wilson completed half of his 36 pass attempts for 157 yards during a Week 3 home loss. The Jets converted just two of 14 third-down attempts and averaged a putrid 2.8 yards per play.

Since replacing Aaron Rodgers early in New York's season-opener, Wilson has mustered 467 passing yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions. He's last among all quarterbacks (minimum two starts) in completion percentage (52.4) and quarterback rating (57.0).

Yet Saleh insisted Wilson "gives us the best chance to win" following Sunday's second straight loss. The former No. 2 pick also discussed his maturation process.

"I feel like I'm in a really good spot as far as my ability and I don't feel like I've been able to put that on display," Wilson said Sunday, per ESPN's Rich Cimini. "And that's for multiple reasons. I don't know what it may be, but I just know I'm ready. I'm going to make sure I continue to be ready. I'm going to make sure that every time I take that field that I'm confident in my ability no matter what's going on."

Tim Boyle, who has made three career NFL starts, remains New York's other active quarterback. Many onlookers are puzzled over the Jets adding another option outside the organization.

Wilson could nevertheless be playing for his job when going against Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday Night Football.
