Longtime NFL broadcaster Al Michaels made an unfortunate mistake during Thursday night's game between the Giants and 49ers.

While discussing the two teams' rich history, Michaels said the 49ers have four Super Bowl titles. That's not true though. They've actually won five.

"So you think about the 49ers, this is a franchise that has won four Super Bowls. Bill Walsh won two, George Seifert won two," Michaels said. "But not since 1994."

Unsurprisingly, Michaels received some backlash for this error.

"Michaels is washed," one fan wrote. "He's had a great career. It's over. Time for intermittent feature appearances."

Another fan said, "We all love Al, he’s a legend, but he’s losing his fastball."

To be fair though, Michaels owned up to his mistake.

"Partner, I short shrift the 49ers," Michaels told Kirk Herbstreit. "They won five Super Bowls."

Michaels will be back in the booth next Thursday to call an NFC North showdown between the Lions and Packers.
