Christian McCaffrey's availability for Monday night's game between the 49ers and Vikings is up in the air due to an oblique injury suffered in Week 6.

On Saturday, David Lombardi of The Athletic provided an update on McCaffrey. It turns out the All-Pro running back is practicing this afternoon.

This is an interesting development, especially since McCaffrey was held out of practice Friday. Perhaps the coaching staff was just managing his workload.

If McCaffrey is cleared for Monday's game, that would give Kyle Shanahan's offense a huge boost.

In six games this season, McCaffrey has 553 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He also has 23 receptions for 177 yards.

Unfortunately for the 49ers, McCaffrey isn't the only player on their roster who's injured right now. Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams are also banged up.

49ers general manager John Lynch said the team will be careful with all three superstars.

“We always have to have their health and safety at our primary concern, always will, and make sure that they’re safe being out there,” Lynch said. “So a lot to factor in, and we’ll just kind of let that continue to play out. But I know they’re all doing their best to get back out there for their team.”

The 49ers are hoping to bounce back from a shocking Week 6 loss to the Browns.
