Sean McDermott Identifies New Goal For Bills Offense Moving Forward
After losing three of their last four games, the Buffalo Bills now stand at 5-5 on the season.
They appeared to be one of the best teams in the NFL to begin the year, and now they're among the middle of the pack and will have to fight to make the playoffs.
The Bills began the 2023 season with Super Bowl aspirations, and while that still remains the ultimate goal, head coach Sean McDermott is looking to evaluate the offense with a new set of expectations.
McDermott says he wants the offense to establish its own culture and extrapolate that to the rest of the team's overall identity.
According to Bills beat reporter Joe Buscaglia, McDermott feels that this will "help foster confidence and energy" within the team and help them focus on winning more consistently.
Unforced errors were the biggest problem for the Bills in their most recent game on Monday night against the Broncos.
From interceptions to costly late-game penalties, Buffalo's collapse on Monday was indicative of the problems McDermott thinks the team needs to fix.
The Bills will have an opportunity to test this new offensive philosophy this week against the New York Jets. Buffalo then faces an extremely difficult portion of their schedule with three straight games against the Eagles, Chiefs and Cowboys.
If the Bills truly have turned a corner after firing offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, we'll know after their next several games.
