Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes shared the field this past February at Super Bowl LV, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took on the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, the two MVP quarterbacks will share something else: the Madden NFL 22 cover.

EA Sports announced its annual Madden athletes on Thursday morning, revealing that Brady and Mahomes would be featured prominently, and together, on the cover. The two quarterbacks of the last two Super Bowl champions will be the first players to ever make the cover twice.

Mahomes made his Madden debut just two years ago on Madden NFL 20 which came after winning his first championship during the 2019 season. Despite all of Brady's past success in the league, he made his first cover just two years before the Chiefs quarterback did on Madden NFL 18.

The reveal isn't exactly surprising after EA Sports teased the Madden NFL 22 cover earlier this week with a picture of an adult goat and a baby goat. Obviously the veteran Brady holds the "greatest of all time" label for now, but Mahomes has the best chance to challenge him over the next few decades.

Of course, Brady got the best of Mahomes in February at Super Bowl LV, but the two were clearly able to get together for the Madden NFL 22 cover shoot. In his first season with the Buccaneers, the 43-year-old won his record-setting seventh Lombardi Trophy with a 31-9 victory over Kansas City. There's no doubt that Brady will have Tampa Bay ready to go for another title run this fall.

But Mahomes and the reloaded Chiefs will do their best to get back to the Super Bowl for their third consecutive season. With a revamped offensive line, the 25-year-old makes Kansas City and instant contender.

Madden NFL 22 will be the 34th installment of the beloved game and is expected to come out later this year.
