Earlier today, it was reported that Pittsburgh news station KDKA fired an employee for a graphic that labelled New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady as a known cheater.

“While fans are entitled to have personal opinions, we have a journalistic responsibility to provide unbiased reporting. The graphic that appeared Monday violated our news standards. The individual who created the graphic no longer works for KDKA-TV,” KDKA told Sports Illustrated in a statement.

Now, it looks like the employee has been identified. His name is Michael Telek, and he was a producer at the station.

Telek confirmed he'd been terminated on Twitter. As it turns out, he also revealed that one of his friends started a GoFundMe for him.

The GoFundMe, started by a man named Connor Trushel, has set a $10,000 goal. Telek says he will donate the money to charity once he finds a new gig.

Here is an excerpt from the GoFundMe description.

Just days before the the graphic aired, KDKA ran coverage of a 10 year-old-boy who won his science fair competition by "proving" that Tom Brady is a known cheater (Great work Kid!). Why is this no problem but a graphic labeling him as the cheater he is such a problem?
Tom Brady was suspended 4 games for violating the rules of the game, aka cheating. You have deflategate, spygate, and I'm sure many other unknown violations orchestrated by the Patriots organization.

It definitely wasn't smart for Telek to run this chyron, and he paid for the mistake with his job. However, it doesn't seem like he's a bad guy, so hopefully he lands on his feet soon.
