Starting Browns quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been ruled out for the remainder of Cleveland’s game against the New York Jets. Taylor suffered a concussion after his helmet slammed on the turf during a play.
The former Buffalo Bills quarterback was sacked three times in the first half. The third and final sack resulted in Taylor’s head injury.
As a result of the injury to Taylor, former Heisman Trophy-winner Baker Mayfield will start the second half for the Browns. Mayfield finished the first half and three for more yards, 47, than Taylor did, 19, in the first half despite playing just one possession.

Mayfield was likely to get the start coming of out halftime anyway, but the injury to Taylor makes it an easy decision for head coach Hue Jackson.
Baker finished the first half 3-for-4 passing for 47 yards and looked more comfortable in the pocket than Taylor. Despite the solid start, Mayfield also nearly lost a fumble on his second NFL snap.
It will be interesting to see if Baker can lead the Browns back from a 14-3 deficit.
