College football is back, but all everyone is talking about tonight is Andrew Luck’s shocking retirement from the NFL.
Luck has taken a pounding in his short NFL career, battling through multiple injuries and even missing the entire 2017 season with a damaged shoulder. He’s missed all of training camp this summer with an unspecified leg issue.
Even so, Luck leaving the game a few weeks shy of his 30th birthday is downright stunning. Even more unbelievably, he was at his team’s preseason game tonight.
Luck was on the sideline at Lucas Oil Stadium watching the Colts take on the Chicago Bears this evening. He could be seen chatting with teammates, including his replacement, Jacoby Brissett.
As Luck was leaving the field after the game, many fans in attendance took the time to boo him.

From this angle, you can see Luck’s reaction to the boos. It looked like he was not happy.

It is tough to blame fans from being disappointed considering the Colts are two weeks away from the season and were thought to be Super Bowl contenders this year.
However, given the beating Luck has taken, there’s no doubt it has exacted a toll. Tough to boo a guy if he really can’t physically and mentally perform at the level he needs to and decides to step away.
