The Cleveland Browns traveled to the greater New York area to take on the Giants at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night. It's the first preseason action for both teams.
Coincidentally, the teams field the No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks in the 2018 NFL Draft. Quarterback Baker Mayfield and running back Saquon Barkley are seeing the field for the first time as professionals.
Barkley raced out to a fast start, something that will surprise no Penn State fan. Baker Mayfield followed suit, though it didn't happen as quickly.
In his second series, Mayfield led the Browns to a touchdown. He connected with second-year tight end David Njoku on a short pass.
The touchdown was the second for Njoku, who also connected with Tyrod Taylor earlier in the half. Njoku has looked the part of a starting tight end in the NFL after starting slow in his rookie season.
It's tough not to get too carried away by the first preseason game. Mayfield, and Tyrod Taylor, have the new-look Browns putting up points.
Is it too early to get excited, Browns fans?
