Donald Trump Sends Official Warning To Transgender Athletes

Donald Trump made it clear where he stands on transgender athletes on Sunday.

The soon-to-be President of the United States spoke at a Turning Point USA conference in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday. Trump, who defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, covered several different topics during his speech. Notably to the sports world, Trump made it clear what his policy will be on transgender athletes.

Now, it will be difficult for the government to enforce some kind of country-wide policy on transgender athletes. Individual states - and school districts - have been enforcing their own policies. The same goes for the NCAA, the Olympics, etc. But Trump seems to think that he can make things clear for everyone.

Trump sent what is essentially a warning to transgender athletes on Sunday.

He told his crowd that “we are going to end the transgender lunacy.”

“With the stroke of my pen on day one, we’re going to stop the transgender lunacy,” Trump said at AmericaFest 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday.

Trump wants to ban transgender athletes from women's sports.

“I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation, get transgender out of the military and out of our elementary schools and middle schools and high schools."

He says he can make it official policy.

“Under the Trump administration, it will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female,” he said, adding that he will “keep men out of women’s sports.”

The transgender sports debate has taken over the sports world over the past couple of years. From Penn's Lia Thomas to Olympic boxer Imane Khelif, many debates have been had.

Legendary sportscaster Bob Costas believes that common sense needs to be applied.

“It’s not transphobic to say ‘Let’s inject some common sense here,'” Costas said. “A lot of this is murky. We know that some people who use this as an issue actually are hostile towards trans people, or people who after carefully considered decisions at a certain point in life, decide that they’ll be happier and closer to their true selves- I think any sensitive person is aligned with that.”

The next four years could be interesting, to say the least.
