Arizona's victory over Arizona State for the Territorial Cup, coupled with UCLA's loss to Stanford, has left the Wildcats as the Pac-12 South champion. Arizona, a team with two losses on the season, will meet Oregon for the second time this season in the league title game next week. Head coach Rich Rodriguez made it clear Friday night that he doesn't believe his team should be out of the College Football Playoff race.
Rodriguez, in the post-game locker room celebration, mentioned to his players that they have a few more games left in the season. He added that it "may be three." The only way that happens, obviously, is if the team is selected for the inaugural playoff. Here's the clip:
Should Arizona beat Oregon again, the Wildcats would still probably need help to qualify. Teams with fewer losses, like Baylor, TCU, Ohio State and Florida State would probably have to lose. Can it happen? Never say never.
