Deion Sanders Gives Update On Son's Status After Hospital Visit
On Tuesday, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders updated reporters on the health of his son, Shilo, a safety on the Buffaloes' roster.
Shilo Sanders was urinating blood following Colorado's loss at Oregon on Saturday and had to be hospitalized after the team returned to Boulder.
Fortunately, it sounds like he's on the mend, even if his status for this weekend's game against USC is uncertain.
"He’s doing better," Sanders said, via On3. "We went to the hospital right after we landed. He’s doing much better. We’re praying that he heals and he’s playing this weekend. He’s a valuable part of our secondary and our team defensively.
"(Shilo’s) one of the voices on the defense and he plays with a certain physicality that we desire and we want and he’s given me daily updates trust me, and I’m praying that he can play as a father as well as a coach."
Through four games, Shilo Sanders is second on the team in tackles with 26 and has also forced a fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown.
The 6-foot, 195-pound grad student originally began his college career at South Carolina before transferring to play for his father at Jackson State and then Colorado.
Colorado will host No. 8 USC at noon ET Saturday on FOX.
