This year's NCAA Tournament field features many surprises, among them is Oregon State's seven seed. The Beavers were one of many bubble teams heading into the unveiling of the bracket, but based on their spot, it looks like the selection committee had them safely in the field. In terms of match-up, however, they didn't get a huge favor. Shaka Smart may no longer be at VCU, but the Rams are a tough team that has proven its worth in the NCAA Tournament in the past. People may disagree with some of the seedings, but we got a pretty entertaining game in the bottom of the West Region. The winner will face the winner of No. 2 Oklahoma vs. No. 15 CSU Bakersfield.

Prediction: VCU brings the signature style and some solid tournament history, but the best player in this game plays for the Beavers. Gary Payton II does it all for Oregon State, leading the team in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals this season. Having a steady star guard like Payton will make it a bit easier for Oregon State to deal with the "havoc" defense, which isn't quite as intense or consistent under Will Wade as it was under Shaka Smart. We like Payton to lead Oregon State to a win, and set up a date with Buddy Hield and the Sooners.
