OL John Vaka Decommits From Oregon, Cites Dismissal Of Mark Helfrich

The firing of Mark Helfrich has had some fallout with Oregon's recruiting class. Junior college tackle John Vaka cited Helfrich's dismissal as reason for his decommitment.

Whenever a program makes a coaching change, there will almost inevitably be a shake up in its recruiting class. That goes for the Oregon Ducks as well. The school fired Mark Helfrich after Oregon's 4-8 season, and today its recruiting class lost a highly ranked junior college offensive tackle.

John Vaka, the nation's No. 9 JuCo offensive tackle, directly cited Helfrich's ouster as his reason for decommitting.

Vaka is the No. 9 JuCo offensive tackle and No. 11 JuCo player in California for the 2017 recruiting cycle.

Whomever the next Oregon head coach is has some work to do to solidify and build on Oregon's 2017 class.
