The highest-ranked junior college prospect left on the board has finally decided where he’ll play basketball next season. Khalid Thomas announced his commitment today, as his choices came down to Arizona State and Oregon.
Before making his final decision, Thomas visited both schools over the weekend. Clearly, the Idaho native found himself intrigued by Pac-12 programs.
Although Oregon put together an impressive campaign this past season, Thomas will attend Arizona State this fall.
247Sports lists Thomas as the No. 2 JUCO prospect in the entire country. He’ll join a recruiting class that can use a boost heading into next season.
Thomas believes Arizona State presents a better situation for him than Oregon. The Ducks did make an appearance in the Sweet 16 this past tournament, but lost several playmakers to the upcoming NBA Draft.
As for the Sun Devils, the majority of the roster will return for a possible run toward the conference crown. The only significant loss for Arizona State is Luguentz Dort, who could be a first-round pick.
The official announcement of Thomas to Arizona State took place on Twitter in this video:

Head coach Bobby Hurley must be thrilled to add another piece to his rotation.
Arizona State now has a total of six incoming players for the fall. We’ll see if Thomas can help bring the Sun Devils back to the NCAA Tournament.
