Charlie Strong may become Oregon's next defensive coordinator.
Earlier this week, Oregon announced the hiring of Willie Taggart as head coach of the Ducks. With Taggart now on board, the former South Florida head coach can make changes to his coaching staff and the defensive coordinator position is one of concern.
Brady Hoke is the Ducks' defensive coordinator at the moment, at least he has not officially been let go, but at Taggart's inaugural press conference the school's president Michael Schill offered advice of going out and getting a 'good defensive coordinator.'
Charlie Strong may just be that guy.
According to 247 Sports, Taggart is in discussion with Strong about becoming Oregon's defensive coordinator. What is interesting about that is that Strong is actually being interviewed by South Florida on Friday for its head coaching job, the school Taggart just left.
This also comes via 247 Sports:
"We can confirm through a different source that should Strong not take the USF head coaching job, two other schools outside of Oregon have offered him a job as defensive coordinator."
It will be interesting to see where Strong lands on his feet, and where the Ducks turn to fix what has been an awful defense, if they cannot land him.
