Oregon football had tonight's prime time match-up against Stanford won. Instead, the Ducks fumbled while killing clock, Stanford tied it, and won in overtime.
Oregon-Stanford match-ups have been pretty heated, dating back to when Chip Kelly was in Eugene, and Jim Harbaugh was transforming the Cardinal into a power.
That was very true once again tonight.
The game featured two ranked teams, and the main challengers to No. 10 Washington for the Pac-12 North.
With some wild twists down the stretch, and a 17-point comeback by the Cardinal to pull victory from the jaws of defeat, it is no surprise that some fans at Autzen Stadium were worked up after the game. Still, there is no excuse for what happened near the tunnel as Stanford left the field.
Video shows Oregon football fans throwing bottles at Stanford players, while one shirtless fan flipped them off and cursed them out.
From The Athletic's Chantel Jennings:
Being worked up over a devastating loss is total understandable. However, throwing stuff at opposing players is always classless.
Oregon has another huge game the next time it is at home. After a trip to Berkeley, and a bye week, Oregon hosts rival Washington on Oct. 13.
