Week 1 of the college football season is in the books, and from the opening kickoff to the final Monday night game between Ohio State and Virginia Tech, the top collegiate athletes in the nation shined throughout the country.

With the first edition of the AP top-25 poll released, the SEC has a record 10 ranked teams, with the Buckeyes remaining at the No. 1 spot unanimously. The Texas A&M Aggies and the Mississippi State Bulldogs, meanwhile, are two of the eight teams already in the top-25 preseason poll. The Aggies had one of the most impressive wins of the weekend, defeating No. 15-ranked Arizona State, 38-17. On the other end of the spectrum, the biggest upset of the week was Northwestern’s win over Stanford.

The main matchup in Week 2 is a non-conference affair featuring the Michigan State Spartans of the Big-Ten Conference and the Oregon Ducks from the Pac-12 Conference, which can have a huge impact on the four teams voted in for the second-annual College Football Playoff.

Another high-quality matchup on tap for this weekend will be between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Oklahoma Sooners at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Neither team entered the new season as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender, but one of these teams will walk away with a 2-0 start, not to mention an excellent non-conference win to proudly look back upon in the months down the line.

With these games rivaling each other for the most important contest of the weekend, they compare similarly when it comes to secondary market ticket prices on Tennessee Volunteers tickets for their home game against the Sooners have an average price of $272.19 and a get-in price of $133, which actually clocks in as the most expensive college football game of the weekend.

As for the Michigan State and Oregon affair, that ranks right behind in the list of most expensive games in college football this weekend, having an average ticket price of $249.28 and a get-in price of $138. They are the third-most expensive tickets to see Michigan State this season, with games against Ohio State and Michigan ranked above it..

Third on the list of priciest games this weekend involves an in-state rivalry between the Big Ten Conference and the Big 12 Conference, as the Iowa State Cyclones host the Iowa Hawkeyes at Jack Trice Stadium. Aside from the Iowa road game against Wisconsin on October 3, the rivalry showdown with the Cyclones is the second-most expensive Iowa Hawkeyes tickets of the season.

There may not be much movement near the top of the AP top-25 poll this week aside from Oregon and Michigan State, but the three aforementioned non-conference matchups with the rest of the college football slate creates yet another week of entertaining football across the country.
