Report: Chip Kelly Releases Statement On Oregon Sanctions
Earlier Wednesday morning, Oregon was hit with NCAA sanctions that included probation, the loss of scholarships and a ban on using recruiting services. Former Ducks head coach Chip Kelly was also hit with an 18-month show-cause penalty for his role in the violations - which, considering he's now the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, he'll probably ride out as an NFL coach.
Rachel Bachman of The Wall Street Journal just released a statement from Chip Kelly in response to the NCAA's findings:
A pretty standard apology, but it has to upset Oregon fans that Kelly seemingly knew that what was going on was wrong - given his "accepting" of the penalties. Still, the Ducks seem to have gotten off easy this time, regardless of Kelly's knowledge or whereabouts.
