Earlier this month, McDonald made it clear that UCLA was his No. 1 choice, telling 247 Sports:

"I really like UCLA right now," McDonald said. "They'd have to be my frontrunner. I've already visited and I just loved the atmosphere there, plus they have their new facilities coming and I think that the LA area is a great place to be."

McDonald, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive lineman, had numerous offers from other Division I schools, including Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Nevada, Utah and Washington State, among several others.

With McDonald's commitment, the Bruins now boast the No. 38 ranked recruiting class for 2018 in the nation, and the No. 5 class in the Pac-12, per 247 Sports. McDonald is just the fourth commit for the Bruins in the 2018 class.

McDonald is the No. 45 ranked offensive guard in the nation, and the No. 93 ranked player in the entire state of California, per 247 Sports.
