We're only a dozen-plus games into the 2018-19 college basketball season, but we've already seen several huge programs fall by the wayside. ESPN analyst Dick Vitale had some choice words for one particular basketball powerhouse that is really struggling this season.
On Saturday night, Vitale went to Twitter and called out the UCLA Bruins after the 11-time national champions were badly beaten by Liberty in a 73-58 loss.
UCLA trailed by 12 at the first half and were outscored by seven in the second half.
The loss marked the Bruins' fourth loss in a row, as Vitale pointed out.
Since December 15, UCLA has lost at home to Belmont University, on the road to Cincinnati, at a neutral venue to No. 15 Ohio State, and most recently at home to Liberty.
With the loss to Liberty, the Bruins have fallen to 7-6 on the season, with three of those losses coming against ranked teams.
The Bruins started the season ranked No. 21 and went 4-0 before dropping back-to-back games against Michigan State and North Carolina.
Head coach Steve Alford is most certainly on the hot seat. A mid-season coaching change is a possibility.
