Big UCLA forward Tony Parker has emerged as a difference maker during the Bruins' surprise run to the Sweet 16, and his off-season training is a big reason. After averaging just 2.4 points per game as a freshman and 6.9 as a sophomore, Parker now averages 11.4 points as a junior, and showed off a refined offensive game in the post against UAB, when he dropped 28 points in the 92-75 win. Parker is also one of the funniest players on the team, by all accounts, and had a classic quote when asked about his off-season weight loss.
Parker said he’s lost more than 20 pounds since his freshman season. “My nickname around the locker room and campus is big sexy,” Parker said. “So, keeping my hair being curled and my body in a nice manner—it’s good for the team and the basketball and it’s good for the ladies off the court.”
"Big Sexy" will need another big game this weekend when he will battle down low with Gonzaga's talented forward trio of Kyle Przemek Karnowski, Domantas Sabonis, and Kyle Wiltjer.
