Buzzfeed Is Getting Crushed For Its Article On Why O.J. Simpson Might Have Killed Ex-Wife, Ron Goldman

Back in January, Dr. Bennet Omalu, who first discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, made headlines, saying that he'd "bet his life" that former star running back O.J. Simpson suffers from the disease, which he believes can cause "explosive, impulsive behavior, impaired judgment, criminality and even mood disorders." Simpson, of course, was tried for but eventually acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Thirteen years later, he was charged with and convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping after an incident in Las Vegas involving memorabilia.

Wednesday, Buzzfeed put together a listicle regarding the topic, and suggested that it's possible that CTE could be to blame for Simpson possibly committing the murders. In traditional Buzzfeed style, it features little text, a video and a number of GIFs. It's a formula that's worked wonders for them for years.

Needless to say, the Internet is not impressed. Buzzfeed is getting a lot of kickback - many are calling it "irresponsible", considering it's speculative to both assume that Simpson has the disease and suggest that it could be used as an explanation for why he may or may not have committed murders. Some think that the topic of the famous murders deserves more than an animated listicle, given the seriousness of the issue. Others are just annoyed that they're recycling three-month old news.

Thus far, the publication has not addressed the criticism. We'll see if that changes in the coming hours.
